If I Could Tell You

If-I-Could-Tell-You

We often take our ability to communicate and express complex thoughts and emotions for granted. However, for many Deaf individuals like Charu, the film’s protagonist, access to language comes much later in life. Her journey reminds us of the transformative power of language and its profound impact on self-expression and identity.

While anchored in the Deaf experience, the film broadens the conversation by weaving in stories of a hearing CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) trying to find her place between two worlds and four young artists — a drag queen, an actor, a dancer and a poet, each striving to find meaning and communicate their truths in their own unique way.

Through intimate conversations, hand-drawn animation and artistic performances, ‘If I Could Tell You’ invites viewers to reflect on the universal human need for expression. Moving between silence and sound, isolation and belonging, it challenges us to consider what it truly means to be seen and heard in a world that often silences our voices.
