FINGER RING

Suresh, a 31 year old sewage cleaner, gets hold of a diamond
solitaire formerly owned by a sorrowful woman victimized by
infidelity. The cleaner gets on the 9th cloud after realizing
that the ring may be a great way to escape poverty and find a
new job. He reaches home and does his evening chores. In the
midnight, with no sight of sleep he wakes his pregnant wife.
Shows the solitaire to Shilpa. Astonishingly, she takes the
ring and puts it in her ring finger. Fortunately, it fits
her. However, Suresh explains that the ring is no way a gift
for her but a mere co-incidence of him owning it in the most
absurd place possible, a Sewage Canal! Suresh comes up with a
plan to sell the ring. He convinces his wife to wear the best
clothes and jewellery she owns, wear good amount of make up
just to look like someone from an upper middle class
household. He also tells her to negotiate the best she can as
the ring may surely be a value of half a million Indian Rupees.
Next day, Shilpa fondly does what Suresh says with extreme
enthusiasm. She goes to a renowned jewel shop. With her
bargaining skills she reverse bargains with the goldsmith.
Ends up dealing the ring in a sum of 4 lakhs INR. However,
with very few funds in hand, the goldsmith gives a total of
Rs. 60,000 /- and request the lady to come in the evening to
collect the remaining amount. Shilpa agrees but the ring will
be with her thoroughly. The goldsmith agrees and the woman
leaves to her house. With curiosity and suspicion, the
jeweler sends one of his errand boys to follow the woman.
Surprisingly, he finds out that the woman stays in a near
slums.
On the other hand, Suresh who works with utmost joy and
satisfaction realising that this would perhaps be his last
day of such work. He comes home and finds out that Shilpa is
nowhere to be seen. Suresh figures out that his wife has been
taken into custody by the Police. As he reaches the police
station he sees that his wife has been mildly injured by the
hands of one of the constables. He requests the police to let
her go and accepts that the ring partially belongs to him.
Sub Inspector (SI) Pawar is busy with a flirty conversation with a fellow
woman clerk Mrs. Archana. Constable Ajit walks in and requests SI
Pawar to take charge in Suresh’s matter. He leaves the room
with agitation, thrashes the shit out of Suresh before even
questioning him. The poor little sewage cleaner breaks his
silence and tells the truth. The police gets their hands on
the CCTV footage for proof. SI Pawar realises that it was Mrs
Archana who had thrown the ring with frustration and anger in
the middle of a busy street. With lustful intentions, SI
Pawar returns the ring and dismisses the case. Suresh is set
free with a ring worth almost half a million but a full of
freedom.
