Sukumar! Are you fine…
We live in a society where men and women are treated as if they are fundamentally different. A society that instills constant fear in women, a fear they are forced to carry every day. This fear is ingrained so deeply that anyone who dares to speak out against these oppressive norms, or even refuses to follow them, faces punishment. Often, there’s no need for a reason to harm her or make her life unbearable. This film explores that society, where growing up as a girl means learning to stay silent and accepting injustice as one’s fate. But Laxmi and Dolon, the film’s main characters, refuse to accept this reality. They choose to rebel.
This film focuses on open defecation and the stigma surrounding it, while also addressing its connection to women’s safety in rural India, highlights a critical issue of public health, sanitation, and gender inequality.
